What is ThredX?
ThredX is the first app ever where you can not only digitize your wardrobe; but try it on with the swipe of a finger. Yes you heard that right…a real life Clueless closet! Once your closet is digitized you can:
- Try on outfit combinations
- Schedule outfits to a calendar Save outfits to collections based on aesthetic or event type
- Create packing lists to prepare for your next trip View detailed analytics and statistics about wardrobe usage
- Share outfits with your friends
Who is ThredX for?
Anyone with a wardrobe (or at least a pile of clothes) can enjoy ThredX. We strive to create an inclusive experience for all - and hope to improve representation and accessibility as we grow. I’m a brand / retailer. Can I use the ThredX app?
Yes! Virtual closets are not only a great tool for getting dressed, but can also be helpful in showing off your brand’s collection. We will be announcing functionality for brands and retailers soon. I’m a stylist. Can I use the ThredX app?

What platforms is ThredX available on?
ThredX is only available on iOS at the moment - although we hope to change that soon. Sign up for our waitlist and we will let you know when ThredX is available for download on the Google Play Store.
Why is there a waitlist to get the app?
Perfection takes time, and we are still working on making our virtual closet experience the best that it can be. We are making strides in improving our scaling capabilities, but in the meantime, we can only onboard a certain number of users onto the app at once. If you are interested in our app, please join the waitlist and we will give you access as quickly as we can.
How long will it take to get off the waitlist?
We are receiving a great deal of interest in our app and our waitlist is growing. While we cannot give an exact answer to this question via the FAQ - we promise we are doing everything we can to quickly add users. Feel free to shoot us an email if you want more information on your place within the queue.

Is ThredX free?
Yes, ThredX is 100% free.
Is ThredX available in other languages?
Not yet, but we hope to add other languages soon.
What technology does ThredX use?
The virtual closets we create not only rely on technology, but also incredible women that ensure every item is modeled with care. While we do use machine learning to scale our processes, we make sure the human touch is not lost, so that your closet looks just as fabulous digitized as it does in real life!

Can I backup or restore my data?
We do this for you. Don’t stress – your wardrobe is safe with us!
What are you doing with my data?
All of the data we store is specifically used to enhance your experience on the ThredX app. We will never sell or share your data with anyone - ever. We use data to:
- Power your virtual closet. We keep track of all your clothing items and outfits so that you can access them in your app anywhere and anytime.
- Provide you with wardrobe analytics. By adding outfits to the calendar or item details such as color, pattern and fit - we are able to provide you with stats so you can better understand your wardrobe. These include wardrobe value, cost per wear, least worn items - just to name a few. All of your analytics can be found via the homescreen.
Can I request my data?
Absolutely. You can request your account data at any time by emailing us at help@thredx.co.
How does ThredX promote user safety?
User safety is of utmost importance to us here at ThredX. We anonymize all avatar images in our system to keep your identity private. Additionally, in all clothing images, we remove your face from the image so that only the article of clothing remains. This ensures full anonymity for our users.
How can I keep my account safe?
We recommend that you pick a strong account password and keep it safe. This means choosing a password that is difficult to guess by using a combination of at least eight numbers, letters, and symbols. Make sure that it is unique to ThredX and you are not using the same password for other accounts you have. Never share your password with anyone you don’t trust. If you share a phone with others, remember to log out of ThredX after you are done using the app. And for added security, use a lock code on your phone to ensure no one can access your account if your phone is lost.
What are the privacy and safety settings for users under 18?
To ensure the safety of our users, all users must be 18 years or older before creating an account. Creating an account with false information (i.e. an incorrect birth year, etc.) is a violation of our terms. This also includes accounts registered on the behalf of someone under 18.

Account
How do I create an account?
We are currently working off of a waitlist, which means you will need to wait until you receive an exclusive download link via email. If you have received a link, please follow the instructions provided in the email - and let us know if you have any questions!
Can I delete my account?
Yes, you can delete your account at any time, although we will be sad to see you go. This can be done through the “Account Status” portion of your user profile. Your account and email address will remain in our system for six months. If you decide you want to come back in that time period, simply contact us and we can help you reactivate your account. Or if you want your information deleted sooner, you can reach out and ask us to remove it immediately.
Building your closet
How do I start setting up my virtual closet?
Once you are inside of our app, look for the “Style Journey” button on the homescreen. Don’t worry too much - we’ve broken down the process into easy to follow steps that you can complete at your own pace! On app instructions will walk you through how to take your avatar photo, followed by how to take your clothing photos.
How do I create an avatar?
On the app, find the “Style Journey” button on the home page. Then hit “Create Avatar”. The app will have the instructions laid out for you…but here is the gist: take a full body photo with your hair behind your back, and your arms slightly angled outwards. Feel free to use your friend, a tripod, or a timer. If there is a problem with your photo, our system will let you know!
How do I upload clothing?
Once you submit your avatar, you can return to the Style Journey to upload your clothing. Before you take your clothing photos there will be a guide with further instructions…but here is the gist: put the item on your body, and take a photo. Feel free to use a tripod, a friend, or just your front facing camera with a timer. If there is any problem with your photo, our system will let you know.
Can I upload accessories, such as jewelry?
Currently accessories are not available for virtual try on. We will be testing virtual try on accessories soon! Please let us know if you would like to be a part of the test group.
Can I try shoes on virtually?
Currently shoes are not available for virtual try on, rather they will be placed next to your avatar for visualization purposes. We will be testing virtual try on for shoes soon! Please let us know if you would like to be a part of the test group.
What kind of items can I upload?
Everything and anything! But if you are looking for specific examples, here they are:
- Intimates (hosiery, socks, swimsuits, undergarments)
- Bottoms
- Tops
- Dresses and Jumpsuits
- Sweaters and Sweatshirts
- Outerwear
- Bags
- Shoes
Can I upload pictures from online retailers?
We ask that you don’t upload pictures from retailers. We are working on a solution that will allow you to do this in the future, but unfortunately it’s not available at this time. For the best results, take a photo of the item on your own body. This may sound daunting, but we promise it’s easier than it sounds. Feel free to start with a couple items and see for yourself!
Can someone help me take all of my pictures?
Totally. Feel free to grab a family member or friend and ask them to take your pictures. Then, if you're feeling nice, take theirs in return ;-) If you are interested in having a member of our team help you instead, please reach out to us via email at info@thredx.co.
Is there a limit on how many clothing items I can upload?
There is no limit. Upload away!
Do you have any tips for the upload process?
Yes, so many tips. We have detailed instructions in the app to guide you through the process as you go, as well as a Digitization Guide for more in-depth tips and tricks. If you still aren’t sure or have questions, feel free to reach out to info@thredx.co for more support.
Why do I have to wait for my virtual closet to populate?
Perfection takes time, and we want your items to look as good digitally as they do in person! Since ThredX is new, we are still working on making our virtual closet experience the best that it can be for you, so please be patient as we improve our capabilities.
How long before my digitized items appear in my account?
It depends on how many items you upload at once, but we aim to get your digitized assets back to you within 48 hours. Please be patient as we improve our capabilities and know that we are working to make this process as quick as possible.
Can I upload more clothing while I wait for others to be digitized?
Yes, of course! And we encourage you to do so. You can always upload more items through your Style Journey on the homescreen.
What can I do while I wait for my clothing items to be digitized?
In your Style Journey, you will find a list of suggestions for what you can do while you wait. You can organize your items by season, add item details, rate and review your items, add the price of each item, and / or upload more items. Adding item details creates better statistics such as wardrobe color breakdown; that can be accessed via the homescreen.
How do I update my avatar?
ThredX does offer the ability to change your avatar image, but there is an associated fee, as we have to refit the entire wardrobe. We will in the future introduce free avatar swapping, but in the meantime, we urge you to capture as many avatar photos as you need until you have one you like.
